Tailoring, dry cleaning and garment sales are outside its scope.
The distinction is between restoring an existing hem, seam or button placement and changing the fit or condition of a garment through other services.
Re-securing an existing hem line that has come unstitched falls within loose hem repair. Shortening, lengthening or reshaping a garment to alter how it fits is tailoring and is outside the scope.
Closing a parted seam along its existing line falls within open seam repair. Taking in, letting out or restructuring panels to change garment dimensions is tailoring and is outside the scope.
